Defensive players are always trying to get their team an advantage and if that means they need to hurt or take out the QB or best player they will do it. If that happens their teammates/ coaches always praise the players who do so. Let's just be honest here, nobody should have a problem with players trying to knock out players from an opposing team. Money is the ONLY issue here, and with this gambling mentality for these bounties, it scars the NFLs reputation. This ISN'T spygate, nor should be compared to it either, spygate was cheating, this is a frowned upon way people play football. Is it honorable? No. Is it something out of the ordinary? No. Is it something that makes Goodell and NFL's effort for player safety seem like a joke? Of course.
Whenever my Steelers play against New England, New Orleans, San Diego or any team with a credible QB, I hope that James Harrison or Lamar Woodley "knocks out" or hurts the other QB to take them out of the game. Do I want them to end their careers? Of course not, but the odds of winning goes up if the best player isn't playing. Where Greg Williams and the players were wrong about this bounty system was the inclusion of money. It can't be that flagrant. But I have 0 issue with players trying to knock out the best players of opposing teams.
The Commissioner will probably penalize the Saints more than Spygate, but this is really just to save face. There has been a huge emphasis on player safety, and this goes against everything the NFPA and Goodell has been trying to do. So in order for them to make sure this black eye of the league doesn't happen again the Saints (prediction) will get a 2nd draft pick taken away this year, a 1st next year, the franchise will be fined 750,000 and former defensive coordinator will be suspended 6 games also, each player involved will be suspended between 2-4 games. I believe this is excessive, but the commissioner has been backed into a corner and will respond with great vengeance and furious anger. (I also heard that James Harrison will be fined 50,000 for playing defense)
