Tom Brady Restructures Contract

"New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady restructured the remaining three years of his contract, helping the team create $7.2 million in salary cap space this.

As part of the restructure, Brady had his 2012 base salary reduced from $5.75 million to $950,000. The team then took the remaining $4.8 million, combined it with a $6 million roster bonus due to him, and gave him a $10.8 million signing bonus (ESPN)."

Very interesting move since the Patriots already had a good amount of cap room. This could be a sign that they are going to make some kind of move, like a trade, but more than likely it means they are going to start locking up some players. Maybe front loading a deal with Welker, or making sure Gronk is here for a long time. Just something to keep an eye on since the Patriots now have a bunch of cap room.
