Things got interesting yesterday in the football world. First, we had the Saints get ripped apart for the whole *bounty thing.
*Side Note - I refuse to call anything something-gate anymore. It is so played out, and every time I hear it now it just sounds lazy. Come up with something better America.
Then Tebow was traded to the Jets for a 4th round pick (plus switching the Jets 6th pick for the Broncos' 7th). Then he wasn't because of a salary advance written into Tebow's contracts. So, the Jaguars jumped in and there were rumors Tebow got to pick which team he wanted to go to. Then, Tebow was finally dealt to the Jets again, and now the fun really begins.
Like we said yesterday, we already had tweets before the trade even happened from Cromartie saying...
"Y bring Tebow in when we need to bring in more Weapons for @Mark_Sanchez let's build the team around him. We already signed to 3 year ext."
Then Joe Namath put his 2 cents in...
"I'm just sorry that I can't agree with this situation," Namath told ESPN Radio in New York. "I think it's just a publicity stunt. I can't go with it. I think it's wrong. I don't think they know what they're doing over there."
Now, it has to be pointed out we just got the opinion of a drunk and a guy with 9 kids from 8 different women, but they aren't wrong. Some people will say this will work out. That Sprano ran a Wild Cat with the Dolphins and now he can do it here. That Tebow will be a great goal line guy. That he will had to a better locker room and fix the image problems for the Jets.
Sorry, apparently you haven't met Tebow fans. They are going to rip New York apart until Tebow is their QB. In week 1 if Sanchez throw an early pick you will start to here the "Where is Tebow" chants. Hell, even if they aren't at home they might hear it mockingly.
The Jets already have a QB that is questionable in fans and players eyes. Now you have this QB that dragged the Broncos to the playoffs last year, and is the most popular football player in the NFL, and you don't think that will start controversy? You have got to be kidding yourself.
EVEN IF THIS WORKS, and Tebow/Sanchez offense somehow pulls it off, this is a terrible move for Tebow (not sure if he had a choice). He will go back to running a Wild Cat, and really never develop into a QB that can make proper reads, and get better throwing. This trade probably will bring career 2 step backwards, and I don't know if he will ever have the chance now to become a "true" QB.
Tebow was a fit on a couple teams. Basically any team that had an open job. The Jaguars made the most sense. He gets to go home, with a team that really needs him, and as a great running game. It just made a lot of sense for everyone. This doesn't, but as a Patriots fan this might be the greatest thing, since the tuck rule.
Just to sit back and think about Rex Ryan trying not to swear in front of Tebow, or awkward conversations between Tebow and Cromartie, or Holmes being mad he isn't getting the ball (wait till he has a QB that throws 45%). Oh what a wonderful world it will be. If you New Yorkers thought "Linsanity" was crazy, you haven't seen anything because "Tebowmania" just came to town with about 500,000 screaming Catholics.
