Marc Berman of the New York Post writes: "Anthony's discontent with the Knicks organization became so severe after Monday night's loss to the Bulls, he told a confidant he preferred to be traded before Thursday's trade deadline (ESPN)."
Not surprising. The Knicks went on a nice streak when Melo was out, and now that he is back they have been terrible. Mike D'Antoni is almost certainly gone at the end of the season, and my guess is that Melo will be in NY until at least the offseason, so that they new coach can make the changes to the roster that he wants.
I like Melo, I do, but he doesn't fit on this team. He messes up that offense, and the whole team just seems to play different when he is out there. I do seem him eventually being dealt, but I have no idea where.
The rumor is Phil Jackson coming back and managing this team. I don't know how true that is, but I think this losing streak is a combo of a bunch of things. The NBA adjusting to Lin, he is still good just not THAT good, Melo fucking up the offense, Amare not knowing how to deal with being the #3 option, and Mike D'Antoni just not caring about defense.
***UPDATE***
Carmelo Anthony said Wednesday he doesn't want to be traded, denying a report that he would welcome an exit from New York.
"No, no, no, no. Let's nip this in the bud right now. No," Anthony said after the Knicks' morning shootaround (ESPN).
Doesn't really change anything in my eyes, as it really isn't his choice.
