The Bruins were tough to watch this weekend. They would fall behind almost instantly, make poor passes, poor goaltending, poor power-play (1 for 22 over the last eight games), and over just looked slower than everyone else. The Bruins have allowed the first goal in six straight games (losing 4 of those 6). For a team that is defensive minded this is unacceptable and will doom them if it continues.
Tampa meanwhile was surging up the rankings winning seven of nine, but have since lost 3 straight. Right now Tampa Bay is on the outside looking in for the playoffs in the 11th seed, but if you look closer they are only 4 points behind the Bruins for the playoffs. What does that tell you? Well, it should tell you the Bruins really need to start winning games, and playing a hell of a lot better than they have been.
Rob wrote yesterday about all the Bruins injuries, and I really don't have any update other than Bergeron is a gametime decision. One would think (and hope) that Thomas is getting tonight off.
Including postseason, the Lightning have won three straight home games versus Boston - scoring five goals in each of them. I wish I felt better about this game, but with the injuries, and the fact the Bruins have shown me very little lately I just can't pick them to win.
Lightning win 5-3
Player of the Game: St. Louis
