Magic Johnson Forks Over 2 Billion For The Dodgers

A group that includes former Los Angeles Lakers star Magic Johnson and longtime baseball executive Stan Kasten agreed Tuesday night to buy the Los Angeles Dodgers from Frank McCourt for a record $2 billion. ESPN

I like it. I would have liked to seen Mark Cuban in baseball, however, another LA Star buying the Dodgers is a pretty cool thing to have happen. Magic Johnson is the only Laker I don't despise. This worked out for all parties involved, Frank McCourt can remove himself from the Dodgers and not be completely broke or embarress himself more by barely affording pay roll (still so thankful he didn't buy the Sox), and LA can be stoked that they keep it in the family and be excited that one of their own are now in charge of the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are also a pretty good team, they are unlike that mess in NY called the Mets and actually have talent and young talent with Clayton Kershaw, Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier. With this new group in expect the Dodgers to be more active in every aspect of the game, free agency, trade deadlines, waivers, etc. It also wouldn't surprise me if they were a couple games behind San Fran at the end of the year.
