While seeking the counsel of his former boss and mentor, Bill Parcells, New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton has broached the idea of Parcells becoming the interim head coach during Payton's suspension for the 2012 season, according to several league sources (ESPN).
The article goes on to say that the two have talked many times, and it could make a lot of sense. Payton was a coach under Parcells in Dallas, and they are close friends. I doubt Parcells would want to coach for more then a year, and he would be handed a team that could be Super Bowl contenders (depending on player suspensions). I guess it makes a lot of sense, but I doubt it will happen. What if Parcells did really well and the players didn't want him to leave? Plus, I just don't know if Parcells will want to coach at his age. It is interesting though and something to keep an eye on.
