The Patriots have re-signed free agent wide receiver Deion Branch to a one-year contract. I have no idea what the money is, but I assume it's pretty cheap, plus the Patriots have a ton of cap room. There were a lot of Patriots fans ready to move on from Branch, but I have no problem with him coming back. Right now, the Patriots have a pretty deep WR core of Branch, Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Anthony Gonzalez, Donte Stallworth, Julian Edelman, Chad Ochocinco, Matthew Slater.
There will be cuts before the start of the season (Ochocinco, ect), but I like what the Patriots have done on offense, and they have done it without kill their salary cap. This could leave room for the Patriots to sign whatever free agents on defense there are and/or sign up the guys they need to long term (Welker/Gronk/Hernandez).
Have to see the money, but it seems like a decent move. Branch is no longer a 1 or 2, but he is a great guy to come in off the bench, can play all over the field, and obviously knows the Patriots playbook as well as anyone.
