"Rondo's not being traded," president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told CSNNE.com Monday night. "I don't know how many times I have to say it. Rondo's not being traded."
I believe Danny Ainge and he has been beating this drum for a while now. Trading Rondo all but kills this year and possibly the future. A lot of people are saying, "But, can you build around Rondo?", why can't you? And as Danny explained a couple weeks ago you never build around 1 player.
The thing that non fans or outsiders don't understand is that Rondo can dominate a game without scoring or even getting his numbers on the stat sheet. He is the definition of a floor general or a true pg. And if it's Paul Pierce, KG or Ray Allen or any other players next year he will still have the same effect on the game.
Take last night for instance, he had 12 points and 10 assists, hardly his NY triple double, but the game he played defensively was incredible. Even Doc Rivers chimed in; "I thought Rondo -- I don’t even know what he did offensively -- I just though, defensively, he was sensational," said Rivers. "He was absolutely wonderful. He had this one stretch where he switched a couple times [in pick-and-roll coverage] and we called a time-out and said, ‘Oh, no no. We’re not switching you off of Chris Paul, ever.’"
You can't find a guy like that in the NBA. And as the biggest Rondo defender, I have only grew stronger in my feelings that he's the best PG in the league after seeing him outplay Deron Williams, Brandon Jennings, killing Linsanity, and now topping CP3 again.
