The NFL has suspended New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton for a full year following an investigation into a bounty program the league said the Saints employed from 2009 to 2011, according to internet reports. To go along with that, New Orleans general manager Mickey Loomis was also hit with an 8-game suspension and fined $500,000, and former defensive coordiantor Gregg Williams, now with the Rams, has been suspended indefinitely. Assistant head coach/linebackers coach Joe Vitt was hit with a 6-game suspension without pay as well.
If that wasn't enough the Saints will also have to pay another $500,000 and will be docked $500,000 and a second draft pick in 2012 (they don't have a first), and another 2nd round draft pick for 2013.
Holy shit.
Wow, that is a lot. I knew they would come down hard, but I didn't think Payton would be gone for the year.
