From ESPN's Chris Broussard
"Boston is aggressively shopping Rondo, according to sources. The Celtics find Rondo's personality to be too high-maintenance and his clashes with coach Doc Rivers continue. With the Celtics having realized they are no longer title contenders, they don't believe the payoff is worth the headaches Rondo brings, sources say. And they do not want to build around him.
In December, the Celtics had discussions with Golden State about a Stephen Curry-for-Rondo deal, and one source says it was Golden State that decided against pulling the trigger. But Curry's recent ankle injuries, which have caused him several problems in his short career, have given the Celtics pause. The potential trade is still being discussed by Boston's braintrust, but they aren't sure they want to go forward with it. It also isn't clear whether the Warriors would be willing to do it. Other players would have to be thrown in to make it work financially."
Enough is enough. I already have came out and hated Chris Broussard for years now, I believe he just throws shit at the wall and and gets too much credit if it sticks.
Rondo is a great PG and one of the best in the league, why the fuck do you trade this guy? His personality often gets thrown out there, but fuck, if your in constant trade rumors and your GM or whoever keeps leaking to the media he is shopping you or whatever, would you have a good attitude?
Rondo has had a pretty good year this year and his critics will point to his few games that he has been off, but if you look at his stats, he is averaging the most points per game of his career, nearly 10 assists per game, his jumper is A LOT more reliable and is coming off his 3rd triple double of the season (there has been 8 of them, he has 3), yet people go up in arms when he performs poorly. I don't get it, have you watched Paul Pierce, KG and Ray this year? Rondo has been a lot more consistent than all of them.
Have you also seen the free agent market? Dwight Howard, nor any free agent wants to play in Boston. Rondo does, and he proved that by signing a very team friendly contract 2 years ago, where he could have hit the open market and made 3-5 million dollars per year more and didn't.
I don't think that people understand how difficult his job/role is on this team. He plays with 3 hall of Famers and everyone says it's his team now. But let's face it, that's not the case at all. He gets criticized when he scores 5 points and has 14 assists because he doesn't score enough and he get criticized when he scored 36 points and Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are held under 12 points because he isn't distributing enough. No shit he has an attitude problem, I would too if I constantly can't do anything right.
These last rumors are absolute bullshit. Would you really want Monta Ellis or Stephen Curry instead of Rondo. Absolutely not. Monta Ellis is a scorer and he can score in bunches, but he's a gunner that will get his points by shooting 10-28 and play no defense. Stephen Curry on the other hand has chronic ankle problems that could make him the next Brandon Roy, don't want to touch that. Oh yea and Rondo is a 3 time all star an 2 time first team all defense, neither of them are.
Also, who are these "sources" that are talking about his attitude. You would think if Danny is openly shopping Rondo, he wouldn't bring up anything negative about the point guard. That wouldn't help his cause for shipping him at all.
I'd love to get a discussion from you guys with this because, I'm incredibly biased towards him, but I really truly believe he is the best we are going to get, so there is no point for trading him.
