So the Steelers aren't franchising their best WR who is 26 years old and are tendering him. The tender means if a team is to sign Wallace, they have to give up a 1st round pick and sign him to big money. The Steelers are gambling no team will risk that for the WR, which is a huge gamble.
Mike Wallace is one of the best WRs in the league, has turned from a spread the field burner to a complete receiver and has yet to hit his prime. The Steelers are in cap trouble and they have done their best to get under by restructuring Ben and James Harrison's deal, released vets like Hines Ward, Aaron Smith, Chris Kemeotu and it seems James Farrior is next.
The Steelers GM has said they are going to sign him long term, but I'm nervous. There is a team in New England who would absolutely thrive with a talent like Wallace and I believe would be willing to give up their late 1st pick for him. The Patriots are already favored to win the SB next year, so if they add Wallace it pretty much guarantees they will be there.
