With 13 rebounds in Tuesday's overtime win against the Rockets, Kevin Garnett passed Shaquille O'Neal for 12th place on the NBA's all-time rebounding list. It's funny that KG actually did this on Shaq's birthday (40). Obviously this is a hell of an accomplishment and speaking volumes about KG career.
What I really love is KG playing center. Call me crazy, but I actually think this might be adding years to his career. He is reinventing himself as a rebounding machine, while reinvigorating his "post presence". The Celtics have such a rebounding problem, but it's sure it's KG's fault who seem to have double digit rebound every game.
I love KG, but he can be a frustrating player, when he only plays his permitter game. I feel like Doc has been trying to get KG to breakout of that for a long time. It seems like he finally found his way by switching him to center. I keep saying the Celtics need a center, which is true, but even if they got one I don't think I would start him (unless it's someone crazy). I am really liking the starting lineup for Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Bass, KG. The only change I have suggested to DP, which he didn't really argue with, was maybe making Ray Allen our 6th man, and starting Pietrus. I think it could help with the scoring in the 2nd unit, while the starting unit really doesn't need him. Just an idea, but whatever I like that lineup.
