First off, nice call Pearce, he got the score exact.
This was a tough and hard fought game. With guys getting in each other's faces, and 5 technical fouls. To be honest, it was how I've wanted to see the Celtics play. They went on the road and played a tough game, and outphysicaled the Clippers.
Paul Pierce scored 10 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't just him, this whole team really shut the Clippers down in the 2nd half. The Celtics outscored the Clippers 55-37 in the 2nd half.
One concern I had in this game is the Celtics problems with holding a lead. The Celtics led 71-61 with 8 minutes to play, but the Clippers responded with a 17-3 run. Still, you have to give the Celtics credit that they were able to get the wheels spinning again, and got just their 2nd win in their last 9 road games. Make no mistake they beat a good team last night, and it was impressive after a very tough loss to the Lakers.
After that 17-3 run by the Clippers the Celtics went on a nice 13-2 run. Rondo had a great game, and seems to own Chris Paul. Rondo had 12 points, 10 assists, and 3 steals, while holding Paul to just 14 points and 5 assists.
So far the Celtics have split their first 2 games of their longest road trip of the season (8 games). If you had told us a week ago the Celtics would split 2 games on the road between the Clippers and Lakers we would've been happy.
Here is the rest of their road trip...
Wed, Mar 14 @Golden State 10:30 PM
Fri, Mar 16 @Sacramento 10:00 PM
Sat, Mar 17 @Denver 9:00 PM
Mon, Mar 19 @Atlanta 7:30 PM
Thu, Mar 22 @Milwaukee 8:00 PM
Fri, Mar 23 @Philadelphia 8:00 PM
The Celtics should be able to beat Golden State, Sacramento, and Milwaukee with relative ease, and I believe they matchup well against the Hawks. Philly as we saw before can be a tough matchup and they are once again going to have to play them in the 2nd game of a back-to-back, so that'll be tough, and Denver is another team that is a running team and will be a 2nd game of a back-to-back. Still, if the Celtics come out of this road trip with a 5-3 record that'd be pretty impressive.
