Cuban outfielder Yoenis Cespedes has agreed to a four-year, $36 million deal with the Oakland Athletics. I have to admit I am pretty surprised by this. Not that at the money or the year, but the team that signed him. The A's usually don't throw around much money, and to spend 9 million/year on a guy who might need some time in the minors and is 26 years old (or so he says) surprised me.
The A's really need the hitting and this the Cuba's best power hitting ever, so hopefully it works out for him. I am not really sold. I think he can hit for power, but this is a bad stadium for him to be hitting in, and he doesn't hit for average. If he plays the whole year in the pros my guess is something like .230 18 HRs 55 RBIs.
