Boston has kind of been a sad place to live over the last month or so. The Celtics look they have at least one foot in the grave, the Patriots lost the Super Bowl, the Red Sox act more like the Royals then we are used to, and the Bruins haven't played well in what has felt like forever.
The best chance for Boston to get it's mojo back is these Bruins, but that is going to be a tall order tonight, as they face-off against the Blues. The Blues haven't lost in regulation at home since Dec. 3, going 18-0-3 in that stretch 5-0-0 with three shutouts since the All-Star break. The Bruins meanwhile are 3-6-0 this month and have been shutout 4 times.
It's not just the offense though that isn't getting it done. Rask has allowed 17 goals while losing five straight starts, and Tim Thomas has a very average .882 save percentage in his last five outings.
The team as a whole isn't playing well. I don't know if they have lost their legs, the injuries that are piling up, but I still don't think it has anything to do with Thomas' comments. This team does need a trade though, and some fresh blood, but we can get into that some other time.
The Bruins have slipped to the point where they NEED to start winning. Not only have they let the Rangers run away from them, but Ottawa is now only 2 points behind them for the lead in the Northeast. Time for this team to wake up, and though I don't have many stats to say why they will, I believe they get it done tonight.
Bruins win 3-2
