Rumor has it that the compensation for Theo Epstein going to the Cubs will be out today and that it is going to be a good prospect. I hear a rumor around the name Trey McNutt. It's not Brett Jackson, but McNutt is a 6'4 McNutt combines an overpowering fastball with a disorienting power curve. While a third pitch would be nice to have in his back pocket, those two existing choices are both serious plus offerings, so the only real thing he's wanting for is a 'show me' selection or two. Potential to be a 2 starter, but probably more a 3.
Either way, getting anything for Theo is a surprise. I was starting to believe we were going to get nothing. McNutt is a good prospect with a great name, and I can see all the T Shirts outside fenway saying "Suck These McNutts" when he makes it to the show.
*****Update, not going to be McNutt************
9:15am: The Red Sox will receive a pitcher from the Cubs' 40-man roster, tweets WEEI's Alex Speier. That'd rule out McNutt. Rafael Dolis, Chris Carpenter, Jeff Beliveau, and Casey Weathers are on the Cubs' 40-man and cracked Baseball America's top 30 prospects for the team.
We'll keep you informed
Raul Ibanez is a very servicable player for the Yankees. Ibby will be the perfect DH like player for them and it wouldn't surprise me if Ibby can hit 20-25 hrs with 70-80 RBIs. He was hidden in a shitty Philly offense last year, this year he has a plethora of good hitters. And with him with the left power stroke, that short left porch will be visited a lot by Ibanez.
