If there is no everyday role for Abreu, then he wants to be traded, reports Enrique Rojas of ESPNLosAngeles.com. "I will not be on the bench knowing that I can play," Abreu said from his native Venezuela.
Abreu, you have had a great career, but you are no longer an everyday outfielder. I always find it funny when a guy is seriously overpaid ($9 million) and then says he is going to demand a trade. I am sure the Angels would love to deal you, but if they do they are going to have to eat at least $6-7 million of his deal. At that point, unless he just becomes that big of a problem he is more valuable as your 4th OF and backup DH.
